You're Definitely Not Alone
By the time they reach the age of 50, 85% of American men will experience some degree of hair loss. Think you're too young to think about it? A quarter of those will begin the balding process before the age of 21. And 30% will see their hair loss progress to the advanced stages while they're in their early 30s. But just because hair loss is common and sometimes considered a sign of maturity, it's never easy. If you're struggling with a receding hairline or thinning hair, you have plenty of male hair restoration options.
Why is this happening?
Though the actual progression of hair loss is unique to the individual, one culprit is responsible for most balding in men. It's called male pattern baldness, or androgenetic alopecia, and it's a hereditary condition passed down from generation to generation. Other factors like disease, medicine, hormones, and stress can also cause thinning, so the specific cause of your hair loss will be identified with certainty during your free consultation.
Chances are that if you've found Hair Technologies, you or someone you know is dealing with male pattern baldness.
In Androgenic Alopecia, responsible for 95% of male hair loss, the body converts male testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a hormone that attacks hair follicles and prevents them from growing. This causes miniaturization to occur, and the hair shafts become thinner. Over time hair becomes shorter and finer, and loses pigmentation. The hair follicles eventually die off, leaving behind areas of baldness. Since the follicles at the crown of the head and hairline are especially sensitive to DHT, these areas are typically the first to be affected by male pattern baldness. This is the condition that often results in the familiar "horseshoe" pattern of remaining hair.
